Countdown: 4 hrs to 2008

As I have some urgent parties to visit, I'll be quick: here's my recommendation which has some tie to my home-country and therefore is worth to start 2008 with. The Arran Malt finished in the finest Tokaji Aszu wine cask sourced directly from Hungary. Slainte & Happy New Year!

A The Arran Malt skót maláta whisky, melyet egyenesen Magyarországról beszerzett Tokaji aszús hordóban érleltek. Slainte és Boldog Új Évet!

Jameson Rarest Vintage Reserve

Jameson seems reconsidering its future. Started with a new, fancy and unusual advertising campaign last year, continued by the re-thinking of its whiskey range this year. The producer of Jameson, Irish Distillers has a throughout and deep knowledge of how to make best quality Irish whiskey. Lately, Irish Distillers is adding a vintage variant to its Jameson whiskey portfolio. The brand's vision is to be a top 20 spirit brand in the world by 2013. The Jameson Rarest Vintage Reserve is joining the 12 Years Old Special Reserve, Gold Reserve and 18 Years Old Limited Reserve. The launch of the reserve range is aiming to broaden the availability of premium Irish whiskeys. Because of the limited stocks and the rarity, the Rarest Vintage Reserve will be at least 10-20% more expensive than any similar quality Scotch whisky, and will only be rolled out accross travel retail shops, as well as UK and US.

A Jameson whiskey úgy tűnik éppen újragondolja jövőjét. Kezdte új, szokatlan reklámjaival a tavalyi évben, és folytatja whiskey-választéka újradefiniálásával az idei évben. A Jameson gyártója, az Irish Distillers igazán tudja, hogyan kell a legjobb minőségű ír whiskeyt előállítani. Mostani újdonsága a Jameson Rarest Vintage Reserve. A márka nem titkolt célja, hogy 2013-ra beverekedje magát a 20 legnagyobb szeszesital márka közé. A Jameson Rarest Vintage Reserve szépen kiegészíti a Jameson 12 éves Special Reserve, a Gold Reserve és a 18 éves Limited Reserve sorozatot.

Macallan in Lalique decanter

The Macallan and the French crystal house Lalique launched a limited edition decanter this November. The first Lalique decanter within The Macallan 50 yo single malt was launched two years ago. The new "The Natural Colour" decanter is the second in what is planned to be a series of six and contains a rare The Macallan 55 yo single malt whisky. The decanter itself was created by the Lalique design team in Paris and is based on a classic perfume bottle designed by Rene Lalique in 1910. As the design originates from a perfume bottle, it is a wee bit feminine in its shape. The stopper of the bottle is also made of crystal: an amber coloured crystal which is one of the most difficult colours for crystal makers to produce. I don't have information on the whisky contained in that fancy crystal bottle, but it must be some real good stuff. It was distilled and put in casks for ageing in 1952. Look what else happened in 1952: General Eisenhower (R) elected the 34th President of US; Pulitzer Prize awarded to Herman Wouk; 15th modern Olympic Games in Helsinki and the 6th Olympic winter games in Oslo; Liz Taylor second marriage; first B-52 test flight; Shostakovich completes his 5th string quartet; "Today Show" premieres on NBC; Ernest Hemmingway's "Old Man and Sea" published; European Parliament forms in Strasbourg; and NY Yankees beat Dodgers 4 games to 3 in the 49th World Series of Baseball. So that was a great year (except the situation in Hungary those days) ... must be a great whisky. Unfortunately, I will hardly have a chance to taste it as it has a price of US$12,000 and produced only 420 bottles.
A The Macallan és a francia Lalique kristály-cég egy korlátozott számban készített decanter whiskyvel rukkolt elő idén novemberben. Az első hasonló Lalique decanterbe csomagolt The Macallan 50 éves maláta whisky 2 évvel ezelőtt került a boltokba.
